New Years Resolutions. Love them? Or Hate Them?

How your set your resolution can have a massive impact on whether you'll stick to it or not. There's heaps of research out there but essentially what it says is that if the goal is to 'stop' something then we feel like we're missing out or being deprived so we cave in.....

We love this article from Stuff that explains that linking the resolution to something that is meaningful to you- or has a purpose significantly increases the chances of you keeping it. Sweet!

5 tips to stick to a New Year’s resolution

  1. Have a strong support network
  2. Add rewards to your behaviour
  3. Break down your goal if it’s too big or overwhelming
  4. Connect your purpose and value system to your goal
  5. Create “approach” goals rather than “avoid” goals

What is motivating your finances?

Emotions drive a lot of what we do.

As part of our financial reset we ask our customers what is motivating them for the reset, and get them to set that goal at the start. Something real and meaningful for them.

What do they gain or achieve by committing to it?

What has been a resolution that you have kept to? And why do you think you did?
